Tutu

I wasn't too happy with how these turned out. Phoebe didn't know what to do with her hands because she didn't want to touch the tutu. Of course when I gave her a little piece of tulle she had no problem with holding that. Anyway I deleted most of the pictures because she had her arms sticking up in the air and looked quite uncomfortable.

Baby Update

10 weeks now. Went to the OB today and got to see the baby on ultrasound. Looks much more like a baby now complete with arms and legs and wiggling around. I'm still getting poked for IV's several times a week and he says no PICC line at all under any circumstances so I guess I'll just have to deal with the needles. He offered to hospitalize me but for now I declined because there's not much they can do here that I can't at home. So in the end he put me on steroids. Hopefully it will help, but I'm just afraid it'll work for the week I'm on them and then I'll be back to totally sick.

I just want this to be over already. Only 206 more days to go according to my annoying pregnancy ticker, what a joke. I won't be happy till that thing says 36 weeks.

Double Ear Infection

So my guess was right. Phoebe has not just one infected ear but two. She was still screaming in pain this morning and I was quite certain by then she had an infection. And since our pediatrician is only in the office on Tuesdays Corey just went ahead and took her to the urgent care place by our house. Hopefully now she'll start feeling better.

Sick Baby

Phoebe has been sick the past few days. She has literally cried every waking minute the past 3 days. At first it was sad, now we're just tired of listening to her. I'm starting to think maybe she has an ear infection, I guess that would explain why she's so cranky.

Oh and I caved and finally got her hair cut. Into bangs, the horror. I'm totally against bangs as I think they are awful but I just couldn't manage to keep her hair up everyday. It didn't turn out that great though it looks much worse in these pictures than real life (she slept weird or something.) And while it looks like a horrible "mom job" at hacking bangs I promise that I did not do this. I forked out the cash to have it done "properly" at the kiddie haircut place. As you can see that really paid off.

More IV's

So yesterday's IV didn't last. It went bad this afternoon as I went to run a bag of fluids. Have I mentioned my husband hired a someone to clean our house. Isn't that great. I hate when they come and take over the house, especially when I feel awful but it's nice to have a clean house. I really appreciate the clean toilets the most.

Anyway it takes them about 2 hours to clean our house, maybe a little less. So today my nurse came to change my IV just as they came to clean. And she left just before they finished. So I got poked with needles for almost two hours today. Took 4 or 5 tries and a lot more bruising. This particular nurse prides herself in always getting IV's on the first or second try. Last time it took her 3 and this time, well. As much as it hurt I think she felt much worse than me. And in the end she was forced to put it in an awful spot (I have to keep my arm completely straight to get the fluids to flow in.) She said if it goes bad or hurts too much she'll come tomorrow on her day off to fix it.

So that's another nurse totally pushing for a PICC line. I go back to the OB on Tuesday so we'll see what he has to say then. Apparently my doctors practice had a bad run of patients with PICC lines getting blood clots so now they're all terrified to let anyone get one.

And best of all I managed to eat pizza for dinner tonight. Not just pizza, Mountain Mike's pizza which is our pizza Monday place. We haven't had that in forever and it was SO good. Now if only I could manage to drink some Coke I'd be happy.

I miss food

I miss food so much, I am soooooo hungry. I haven't had a "real" meal in a month. Today I've had a whopping 6 crackers and it's 10pm. I just want to sit down and have enough appetite and be able to stomach some actual food. You know meat, potatoes, vegetables. Last week I felt well enough to make it through a meal out with the family but still all I could eat was a salad, and not even with lettuce.

I'm just sick of being sick. And annoyed because I know I'm not even anywhere near the end of it. I'm sick of being poked for IV's 10 times a week. Another IV blew today, my nurse said she's going to call my OB and have a talk with him about a PICC line. Not that I really want one but my arms are literally black and blue.

6 more months...

Quote of the Week

So John and Bella left this morning to go to my parents place. They had to wake up at 4am to make it to the airport on time. I'm not sure we've ever had to get them up that early before. So they went to bed early last night and kept asking if they were going to get to go in the morning. And as I woke them up...

Bella: Is it morning now?

Me: Yes

John (voice cracking): It's not morning in my room!

He had a really hard time accepting going to bed while it was still light outside, and waking up while it was dark.

What to buy a baby that needs nothing

So when I got pregnant one of my first thoughts was what do I need to buy. Mostly because buying baby stuff is fun. But I can't think of a single thing this baby will need.

We already have:
  • crib
  • pack-n-play/bassinet
  • decorated nursery
  • clothes
  • toys
  • breastpump
  • cloth diapers
  • swing
  • stroller
  • double stroller
  • carseat
  • bouncy seat
  • more receiving blankets than you could ever count
  • swaddling blanket

So what are we going to buy? A king size bed, finally. I really can't wait. And if anyone thinks of anything else a baby might need let me know. I actually bought Phoebe nothing for her birthday because she didn't need anything and I could justify buying another toy.

As I said after John was born, having two kids close together doesn't cost much more than just having one. In fact you just get a better value out of the money you've already spent. The exception being medical bills. Which we seem to have a LOT of.

Weird Misery

So last night I started getting a sore throat. Woke up in the middle of the night totally sick with a horrible cold/sinus infection. And of course got no sleep after that. I've been totally miserable all day, barely able to breathe. The weird thing is I haven't been nauseous hardly at all and actually ate twice. It's really weird because I'm so glad to not be nauseous but too sick to really enjoy it that much. And while I really want this cold to go away because it sucks I don't want the nausea back so I can't decide what I really want more.

And another one bites the dust

Another IV that is. Trying to keep tape on my hand with the last IV didn't go all that well. It just kept falling off. Then Phoebe thought it looked like a nice toy to play with. Grabbed the tube and pulled out my IV. So tonight another nurse comes get me set up and after 3 pokes I once again have a functioning IV.

I'm running out of veins quickly and the nurses want me to get a PICC line. Only problem is my OB is very anti-PICC. So I guess we'll see what happens over the coming weeks.

12 Month Check-Up

Phoebe went today for her 12 month check-up.

Weight: 14.4 lbs <0%
Height: 27 inches 6%

So she grew a little bit, mostly in height. Still super tiny though.

Ouch

So my IV blew today, not too bad since I got it put in on Thursday. So I called the oncall nurse to come put in a new one and ended up getting poked 5 times. I'm pretty dehydrated so finding good veins to begin with wasn't easy, and then everytime she got one in the vein would instantly blow. My arms which were already bruised now look awful and really hurt. And she was eventually forced to put it in my wrist in a very awkward place so now I'll be able to do very little with my hand. At least for now I'm being pumped full of fluids.

So is it March yet.

Update: And of course as soon as I posted this my IV started leaking. The nurse came back and things are once again running. Hopefully they will stay that way.

Old Favorite

Because no matter how bad I feel this picture always makes me smile.

That's a new one

The latest comment about Phoebe's size.

"She's not much bigger than my newborn."

All I can say is that's one baby I wouldn't want to give birth to.

A Sesame Seed

So the reason for my disappearance for those that haven't figured it out is I'm pregnant. We found out just before Phoebe's birthday that baby #4 is on the way. This one (unlike the others) was a complete shock. We were wanting another but I was so terrified of going through pregnancy again that I don't think I ever would have gotten the courage to plan it. So an accident works out well I suppose.

I of course am sick, I got to be happy pregnant for about 3 days, then I got a week of normal morning sickness before being thrown full force in hyperemesis. So here I sit on the couch hooked up to IV fluids all day. Feeling like total crap. Truly unsure how I'm going to ever survive this for 7 more months. John and Bella are going back to my parents house in 2 weeks though so that will make things a lot easier. Trying to do this with three kids all on my own during the day is no easy task.

And of course the paranoid pregnant women in me fears as soon as I post this I'll have a miscarriage. Gotta love hormones.

So here it is, our very own sesame seed. Who I hope looks more human like this week than last week when this was taken.
