Check-ups

John and Bella had their yearly check ups today at the doctor. They are growing good. Bella's two inches taller than John and 10 pounds heavier (31 and 41 pounds.) John needs a follow-up with the neurologist for his seizures and Bella also needs to see the neurologist about migraines but otherwise they look perfect.

While we were there they wanted to go ahead and weigh Phoebe and while doing that we realized she had spiked a fever while we were there so she ended up getting checked out too. She has unfortunately lost weight again. I swear she's never going to grow. And she is still covered in eczema despite us trying everything to get rid of it. So she's going to see an allergist so we can hopefully figure out what's triggering it.

Earrings

Bella got some jingle bell earrings that she just loves, when she runs around she jingles like a cat. Anyway I was putting them on her and John called her Belly (this is his teasing name for her that she hates.) So she immediately yelled out "I'm NOT Belly." I said, but you're wearing bells so you are belly. Her resonse:

"If I wear bells I will be belly"

"And if I wear my turtles I will be a turd"

"And if I wear butterflies I'm a butt"

A boy baby or a girl?

I asked Bella how we'd know if the baby was a boy or a girl when it comes out.

"If it has long hair like me then it's a girl. If it has short hair like John then it's a boy."

If that's the case then I definitely think it's gonna be a boy. Shoulder length hair on a newborn sounds down right creepy.

I just don't learn

John was in Early Intervention from 4 months until he turned 3 years old (that's when the program ends.) And from about age 15 months on every time an evaluation came up I was so certain that he would no longer qualify. Every single time. And he always qualified and I always left the evaluation feeling bummed. I just never learned.

So today was Phoebe's first 6 month evaluation since starting EI. And well you guessed it I totally believed she wouldn't qualify. After all she's walking like crazy. Well she qualified. In fact she qualified in every area tested. In my defense though her therapist thought she'd test out too.

I think the walking thing threw us all off. She's doing so great with that we just assumed everything was great, when in reality walking is just about all she's doing. So looks like it's more therapy for us.

Diapers

For the first time in nearly 4 months I have a load of cloth diapers in the washer. The day I found out I was pregnant I had just finished stripping my diapers (getting them REALLY clean) and knowing I would soon be very sick it was the perfect time to just put them away. Now that I'm finally starting to feel better I've pulled them back out. Plus Phoebe has been battling a horrible case of eczema and her bottom was just not healing so I'm hoping some time in cloth will do her good. We've also had to keep her in sleepers full time lately because if she had pants on she would instantly scratch herself bloody. The nice thing about her Goodmamas is that she can't get her hand in them because the elastic waist band fits so snuggly.

I'm sure the next few months will be a lot of off and on cloth diapering depending on how I feel, but for now I'm looking forward to whatever I can manage.

Curls

Phoebe has another double ear infection. She's been super cranky today, after spending the last two days puking. But somehow she was totally content to sit and let me curl her hair. So curls it is.
