While Pappy was here visiting we took a trip up to the ski resort. We took the tram up to 11,000 feet. It was a great view and only 40 degrees up there. Bella got cold and all I had in the diaper bag for her was a pair of my socks so she wore those on her hands/arms.
After we rode the tram back down we had a little mini picnic. Bella dropped her snack and a squirrel stole it. We managed to get it back though.
Then we went on a short hike and enjoyed the rest of the view of the mountains.
Phoebe has been wanting to move downstairs with the big kids and since she was ready to move up to a big bed anyway I decided to let her do it. Plus I separated Phoebe and Hazel when they kept getting sick and Hazel sleeps much better on her own. We put John and Bella's beds back together as a bunk bed in John's room and bought a new bunk bed which is now in Bella's room. Phoebe is sleeping on the bottom bunk of John's. Works out great because he doesn't like having his own room so he's very happy to have her there.
There's plenty of rides at Lagoon and all other parks that I won't go on because I'm afraid of heights. Corey bugs me about it all the time. The ferris wheel is weird though because I like it and Corey won't go on it. The fact that the gondolas are open freaks him out. The kids enjoy it though, of course I've yet to find any ride they're afraid of.
Going to the copper mine was pretty high on the list of things the kids wanted to do while Pappy was here. I think I'll have to get a picture of the kids by this tire every year.
On Saturday we went to a birthday pool party. Luckily with my dad here visiting Corey and I were able to just take John and Bella and the little ones stayed home with Pappy. I have learned taking four kids who can't swim to a pool is WAY more work than fun. The kids had a blast and Bella had fun jumping off the diving board. Boy would I love a pool like this in my yard.
We went hiking today at Donut Falls with my dad. The kids had never really been on a hike before and thought it was cool. In their eyes they climbed a mountain today.
Bella lost her fourth tooth today. She got to have Pappy pull it out since he's here visiting. She went to the store tonight and picked out a toy dragon as her special treat.
John still doesn't have a single tooth loose and he's very upset about that.
I finally got the last thing we needed for second grade in the mail last week, so today we began the year. We ended up taking a longer break than I planned because of the missing piece and of course I paid for it in terms of John's behavior. He hadn't thrown a fit about school in a very long time but today he yelled for an hour over the problem 9+2=. We ended up not finishing until 4pm which is quite late for us. This year will definitely bring a heavier work load and John knows that and is dreading it. I'm thinking we will need to restock and begin using our reward bucket for awhile and hope his attitude improves as we get back into our routine.
John has decided to learn to skateboard this summer. He got an older kid to teach him yesterday and got a new skateboard (his old was pretty small and Phoebe wanted it.) He's doing good, at least much better than I ever did. I got a video but haven't gotten around to editing it yet,
