Beds

Well just like I guessed Hazel decided she liked the toddler bed and didn't want to go back in the crib.  It worked out just fine last night though because Phoebe heard Hazel wanted her bed and was totally excited to sleep in the crib.  Today I took the side off of the crib and Phoebe is now sleeping there and Hazel in Phoebe's bed.

Bike update

Here's video of Phoebe taken exactly a week after she learned to ride.  She can start by herself now and is learning to turn.  She still has trouble starting on her own when she's going uphill though.

And the kids learned the importance of helmets today.  Phoebe fell off her bike and hit her head, she dented her helmet and was completely unharmed.  If she hadn't been wearing a helmet it would have been bad.  She actually fell down a lot today, she just gets right back up on her bike and keeps going.  So different from Bella and John who come running home screaming when they fall down.

Sick

Poor Hazel got sick and crashed our holiday weekend.  Well the second half of it anyway, the rain sort of killed the first half.  She was fine until she got up from her nap yesterday at which time she threw up more than I thought could possibly fit in a two year olds stomach.  Then she layed about the rest of the night not moving and spiked a 103 degree fever.  Luckily she only threw up that one time and when she woke up this morning her fever was gone.  She's been a bit cranky today though.  I really nope no one else gets sick.  I spent two hours last night bleaching the house and quarantined her to her room so we'll see.  It's not like you can stop the real bugs from spreading but I had to clean up her mess anyway and figured I might as well keep cleaning while I was at it.

She layed on the floor for an hour and then climbed into Phoebe's bed.  We let her sleep there last night since she seemed comfortable.  Like Corey's little puke catching towel creation?  Luckily it was not needed and she ended up using the towels for blankets.

Corey let her sleep in Phoebe's bed again today at naptime.  I fear she's not going to want to go back in the crib now.

A comic book

A few weeks ago Bella decided she wanted a comic book.  We found this one and it was perfect for her.

She read it and immediately drew pictures

She held an ant

Phoebe has always been terrified of bugs.  Worms, ants, flies pretty much anything sends her screaming like a little girl.  So I was shocked the other day when the bigger kids told me Phoebe was holding an ant.  Sure enough she had one in her hand and when it fell off she asked for another.  I had to take a picture because I knew Corey would never believe it without evidence.

Happy Birthday Erin

My sister's birthday was actually yesterday but Phoebe learning to ride her bike was more important to me at the time.  Anyway the kids love birthday's so they all made cards for her and sang happy birthday.

We actually got this video on the first try, I was certain it would take several tries due to someone refusing to sing or me messing up on the piano but the first time was perfect.  Well as close to perfect as we get anyway.

She can ride!

Phoebe overcame her fear today and rode her bike.  We are so proud of her.  She still needs to learn to start by herself but that shouldn't take long.

She picked out the song to go with her video, it's one of her favorites.

A New Bike

Photobucket

Phoebe's been riding a balance bike for a year now and is a pro at it.  She can ride in down the driveway with her feet up and make it all the way into the street.  I had been saving John's old 12 inch bike for her and have been waiting for her to be tall enough for it.  I discovered last week though that it had been stolen.  Not exactly sure when that happened because I hadn't needed it in awhile so I just never checked.  So anyway we went looking at new bikes on Saturday and I managed to find one 12 inch that Phoebe can sit on and have her feet touch the ground.  It wasn't really the bike she wanted but it is Toy Story which she loves so she warmed up to it quickly.

So we got it home and she begged me to put it together right away.  I did and we got out in the street and she was terrified she'd fall off.  So she didn't want to pedal it.  She's got great balance though so I'd give her a push and she coast about 20 feet and then put her feet down to catch herself and still she was afraid of falling.  Sunday same thing, she wouldn't even pedal while we held the bike for her.  Today she started pedaling it and even managed about 5 seconds riding on her own before she stopped.  Corey was supposed to be taking a video of that (and thought he was) but we ended up with a 2 second video of the ground instead.  So maybe tomorrow we can get something better.  If she keeps it up she'll be riding with the big kids in no time at all.

And she got a new bike helmet today.  She was using John's old one which was starting to fall apart.  She said she wants a birthday cake when she finally learns to ride and we told her we'd definitely get one.

Carwash

I was watering the grass out and the kids wanted to play in the sprinkler.  They got all their cars together and made a carwash.

Hazel loves this toy

We were at the mall last weekend and Hazel saw this toy rollercoaster and thought it was the funniest thing ever.  She just went nuts everytime the train fell down the tracks.

So sweet

Corey took this picture a few days ago, I guess I wasn't around at the time.  It's so sweet.  John really loves Hazel.

Bye-Bye Bee-bow

Hazel loves to say "bye-bye" to everyone.  Even total strangers in public.  Usually she just picks someone and looks at them and says bye-bye over and over until they acknowledge her.  Lately though she kept saying "bye-bye bee-bow" and I could not figure out what bee-bow was.  I'm usually pretty good at decoding what she says but some things take awhile.  Finally I was grocery shopping with her on Monday and she said it and I figured it out, bee-bow is people.  So I asked her "bye-bye people?" and she nodded her head excitedly.  And now that I've figured it out and corrected her a few times she's actually starting to make the "p" sound.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was actually good this year.  I'll admit I was expecting it to suck.  After all my own mother is no longer alive and my husband is pretty bad (okay really bad) at buying gifts.  We have a deal and I just pick out my own gifts on holidays but when it comes to mother's day I still want gifts from the kids and he usually does a very poor job at assisting them.  This year he learned from last year's mistakes and it turned out great.

Bella got me this rabbit.  It's exactly what I asked her to get me last year and Corey screwed it up then, so I was really excited to get it this year.

And a gift card with this picture. It says "coupon for Yankee candle" She had looked for the Christmas tree scented one because she knows I like them. I explained they only have those around Christmas time.  So she drew a picture of the scent she wanted at the bottom.

John is so sweet.  Apparently at the store he had wanted to get me a really nice fridge because he knows how much I want one.  Corey said it's too expensive.  Then he wanted to buy me a microwave, a toaster oven, an air conditioner and a swimming pool.  In the end I got freeze dried ice cream (aka astronaut ice cream) which I love.

And a gift card with this picture. "Coupon for blender."

Phoebe was perhaps the sweetest of all.  She doesn't get this mother's day stuff and was completely convinced it was my birthday.  All weekend she kept saying "it's your birthday!"  "Happy birthday Mommy!"  She picked out this duck for the garden. And drew me a birthday card to go with another gift card.

Lagoon Pics

I got a new iPhone for Mother's Day.  I only wanted a new one for the better camera on it.  And I have not been disappointed, the camera is SO much better.  And now that it's warm out and we're outside all the time I'm taking a lot more pictures with my phone.  Here's a few from when we were at Lagoon yesterday.

First time grilling this year

We got a new grill yesterday and grilled for the first time this year today.  The kids all played in the backyard while Corey cooked dinner.  Then we all sat at the picnic table and ate.  It was the perfect ending to Mother's Day.

A 5 gallon bucket

It's apparently better than a tub or a pool.  We fill these buckets with water and the kids use them to fill up their squirt guns and stuff.  Hazel decided she wanted to get in one today and despite it being filled with very cold water she loved it.  She didn't want to get out so I added hot water to warm it up for her.  She played for quite awhile.  I have a feeling we won't be able to keep her out of them in the future.
