I hate winter, with a passion. Being stuck inside with 4 kids all winter long is pure torture and I'm simply trying to survive. As a result there really hasn't been much of anything to share.
Anyway the holidays are upon us, even though I'm so not into it at all this year. I try to make the kids a few homemade gifts each year and this year the theme is quilts. I started off making them little doll quilts and may have become slightly addicted and gotten a little carried away.
So John's doll quilt. And yes John is very into playing with dolls
Bella's
Then I decided to go a little bigger and made a small quilt for Hazel
Then I found this Berenstain Bears fabric for Phoebe. Or as she calls them the Dancing Bears
When I asked Bella what she wanted for a quilt she said Roy G. Biv. Doesn't get much easier than that. I made hers in one day.
Deciding on fabric for John was harder. Then I found the perfect thing. All his favorite colors with robots and gears on them. And it matches his room.
Then I ran out of kids and got bored. I made one for me that I'm not too in love with, Phoebe stole it for now because she doesn't know I've made her one. So then I decided to make one for my sister. I planned on it being a lap size quilt but messed up on the math and ended up buying twice as much fabric as I needed (the half square triangles confused me.) So it ended up being twin size.
About 25% of the way through I was feeling like I had bit off way more than I could chew. And with Yule getting closer I felt the need to get it done. I'm happy to say it was so worth it, it turned out awesome. I had a really hard time wrapping it up and sending it away.
This ended up being my favorite block, which kind of surprised me because I'm not really a fan of polka dots.
And this is probably my second favorite
And I adore the backing fabric
And I'm knitting a rug out of the tiny fabric scraps that would have otherwise been thrown away
And this one was knit out of old t-shirts
